How to use Trail Reports Section
Trail Reports can be used to check the status of a trail before you hike it.
In order to make this useful, we must all take the time to fill out a
trail report after we hike a trail.
To use the trail reports section:
-
Select the location from the list of 6 sections of Grand County on the main
Trail Status Report page where the trail you are looking for is at.
-
On the next page you will see a listing of trailheads, trails, and/or trail
locations.
For example: On the "West Side of Highway 40" page the following can be found:
-
Trailhead: Junco Lake Trailhead, where you will find all of the trails that
start at Junco Lake Cabin, such as Columbine Lake, and Caribou Pass.
-
Individual Trail: The Jim Creek trail is listed individually.
-
Trail Location: Moffat Road Trails where you will find all of the trails that
start off of the Moffat Road, such as The Rogers Pass James Peak Trail, or King
Betty and Bob Lakes Trail.
-
Click on "Add or View Trail Reports" under the selection where the trail you want is located.
Next to "Add or View Trail Reports" is the number of reports that have been filed.
-
On the left side of next page you will see all of the reports that have been filed. The latest one is at the bottom.
-
On the right side is a box where you can enter your report, include the condition of the trail, and anything of interest along the way, such as wildflowers, or moose.
-
Under "Choose an identity" click on "Name/URL" . A box for your name will appear.
-
Enter your name. Leave the URL field blank.
-
Click on "PUBLISH YOUR COMMENTS". Your report will be added to the reports at the bottom of the left side.
-
Click on the title at the top of the page to return to the Grand County Trails Section page.
-
Click on "Return to Trail Status Main Page" to return to the Grand County Wilderness website.
